As a food expert, I keep my eye on the packaging and marketing practices of major food companies. I was one of the first to call out Tropicana when they changed their iconic logo in the middle of the recession to look more generic. (they eventually went back to their original logo and design) Now I'm calling out another major company-Perdue.
I buy Perdue 93/7 ground turkey weekly. The package has about 1.25lbs of meat for around $3.50. Low and behold I noticed at the grocery store tonight they have new packaging on their ground turkey. Upon closer look I also happened to see that the new package is exactly 1 lb. of meat for the exact same price! They are jipping us 1/4 pound of meat via their snazzy new packaging. I bought Shadybrook Farms turkey instead.
This type of practice really pisses me off. I always viewed Perdue as a family company providing a quality meat to everyday Americans. Now I just view them as a bunch of sleazy executives looking to make extra money selling less meat. They can kiss both my breasts because I won't be buying their meat any longer.
Boycott Perdue and put an end to smarmy marketing aimed at ripping us off in 2012 and beyond.
